About Us:

Millcreek Kennel has been family owned and operated since its beginning in 1985. Located in a quiet country setting in southwestern Delaware County and surrounded by trees, Millcreek offers dogs an opportunity to relax and breathe fresh air in spacious, clean, secure indoor/outdoor runs. We strive for a stress-free environment where dogs can feel at home and enjoy the community of other dogs without territorial issues. Owners Lisa and Sam Stafford reside on the premises, so someone is nearby virtually all of the time.

Accommodations:

Your dog's safety and comfort are our highest priorities. Our building is designed specifically for boarding, featuring high quality chain link Mason runs (with all outsides covered to prevent climbovers). In addition, the entire facility is surrounded by a security fence.
Each run's inside floor is heated to a comfortable temperature, with additional room heat added during the colder months. To protect against the summer heat, Millcreek is air conditioned.

Food:

All dogs are welcome to bring whatever food they are eating at home (this is recommended for puppies, elderly dogs or any dog with special dietary needs) or we can provide food at no extra charge. Millcreek is currently feeding Pedigree dry adult food. If you do bring your own food, it should be in a resealable container labeled with your dog's name and feeding instructions. Bring your own treats or we can serve ours.

Bedding and Toys:

You are welcome to bring any bedding or toys that you feel will add enjoyment to your dog's stay. Please keep in mind that in a setting that is not home, some dogs will "mark" objects belonging to them, or may tear or chew things they normally would not. An old blanket or rug is a better choice for a bed than an expensive new cushion or a family heirloom quilt. Millcreek can also provide bedding (at no extra charge) if you prefer.
* Toys and bones should be at least 2" in diameter to be sure they will stay in the run with your dog. Safe chew bones can be a good pastime for high energy dogs.

Vaccinations:

Millcreek requires certain vaccinations in order to protect the health of all of our boarders. Please be prepared to provide proof of the following when you arrive:
- Rabies (required by Ohio law)
- Distemper / Parvovirus (usually in combination with other vaccines)
- Bordetella (kennel cough),
all given according to your veterinarian's current schedule. Leptospirosis, Coronavirus, and Lyme vaccines should be given at the discretion of your vet.
We do not require, but do recommend, that all dogs be on a heartworm preventative program; we also encourage the use of topical flea and tick products to help prevent the sharing of parasites.

Veterinarian Contact:

Your veterinarian clinic's name and telephone number will be recorded, and we ask that you inform us of any recent vet visits due to illness or injury. Your vet will be our first contact in the event of an emergency. (If they are far away, we may choose to contact a closer vet in the interest of time.)

Medications:

If your dog needs to take medication during his stay, this can usually be accommodated. Most times pills can be hidden in food or a treat (and some are chewable) but if a dog needs to be pilled or given a topical treatment such as ear/eye drops or an ointment there will be a small additional fee. Medications must be clearly identified and marked with times and dosages.
* Millcreek cannot accommodate any dog that is contagious or seriously ill, nor can we provide veterinary services such as I.V.'s, wound dressing, post-surgery observation, 24-hour care, or special-needs care.

Grooming:

While not a grooming shop, Millcreek provides a number of simple services for our guests. A bath is not always necessary but can be a nice way to enhance your reunion and save you the time when you get home. Other services include simple maintenance grooming such as brushing, coat and foot trimming, decoating, dematting, clipping (shaving) and toenail trimming. Please order any grooming before or at the time of drop off, as it will need to be scheduled. See rates below.

Cats:

Available to our dog boarding clients, Millcreek offers a very limited number of accommodations for cats. Litter is provided, but kitties are asked to bring their own food. Inquire for availability. Millcreek does not offer grooming or medication services for cats.
